Telling your Love Fortune using Face Cards

The following are directions to play a fun little fortune telling LOVE Game. I learned it it middle school (many years ago) and it obviously made such a BIG impact on my life...that I am blogging about it years later! ;)

What you need: A deck of playing cards (you know...Ace, King, Queen, Hearts, Spades... )

Optional: A friend with whom to Play.

Directions: One person acts as the "fortune teller".

1. Pick out the 4 Kings (if you are playing with a girl. If you are playing with a boy, pick out the Queens) Line the 4 Kings in a row. Ask your friend to assign a person they like to each one. (Ex. King of Hearts: Josh. King of Diamonds: Ryan. King of Clubs: Jeremiah. King of Spades: Brad Pitt (it's always fun to use people that both of you know... and feel free to throw in a celebrity.) )

2. Shuffle the cards and then have your friend pick 3 cards without letting them see them. (Don't let them peek. It will take the fun out of the game.) Put the cards facedown and to the side.

3.  Then holding the deck face down, ask your friend to start coming up with "Love Questions."
Once they ask a question, one by one turn the cards in the deck over as you go along the row of Kings. When the suite of the card matches the King it is laid on then that stops the question and that "person" wins the question. Another question is then asked and the process starts over. (Ex. Question: "Who is the Best Kisser?" Start with the first King and lay the first card on the top of the deck on it. Does the suite match that card? If yes... Stop. If no...move on and put the next card on the next king in line. Let's say the spade is drawn on the 4th King who happens to be the Brad Pitt King. Brad Pitt then wins the question.) Make sure to start the next question and lay the card on the next King in order (don't just automatically go back to the first King.)

4. Keep asking questions and laying the cards down in a row on the Kings until all of the cards are used (well...all of the cards except the 3 that were pulled out at first.)

5. Keep all of the cards that were laid on the Kings in a pile on the King.

6. Now it is time to read the fortune. Take the 1st pile off of one of the Kings.

Here is the rating order determined by the card suite:
Hearts: Love
Diamonds: Money
Spades: Hate
Clubs: Kids

Go ahead and take that first pile and separate them out into the different suites, then Dramatically let your friend know what the outcome is.
Repeat that pattern for all four kings.

7. Based off of the fortune outcomes, ask your friend to pick which fortune she would choose.
Then get the 3 cards she picked earlier.
Turn the 1st one over and whichever suite it is say "this is who your parents want"
Turn the 2nd one over and match the suite and say "this is who your friends want"
Turn the 3rd one over and match the suite and say "this is who you end up with!!!!"

8. Switch roles and have the fortune teller become the fortune receiver.

Silly.  But fun.
